Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is currently seeking Associate or Experienced Flight Readiness Technician (Level B or C) to support the 787 Program Boeing South Carolina Delivery Center Operations Team in North Charleston, South Carolina on a Variable Shift! This position will provide critical production support to the Delivery Center including improving production efficiency, safety and optimizing product quality. Qualified candidates will perform routine final component installation and verification, as well as, systems operational functional validation testing. Flight Readiness Technicians perform rework, modification, maintenance, preflight and post-flight checks for delivery. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status. Primary Responsibilities: Performs flight test installations and aircraft functional testing. Assists in troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and avionics systems to isolate mechanical and/or electrical/electronic faults and assists in repairing faulty components. Assists with pre-flight and post-flight checks and performs maintenance and modification actions. Resolves identified problems during operation and testing of deliverable products. Verifies the accuracy of work performed and may conduct self-inspection. Assists in performing system & sub-system pre-delivery inspections and aircraft maintenance in preparation for delivery. This data will include manufacturers’ overhaul manuals, service bulletins, part specifications, related FAA approved data and other required technical data used by the repair station * Ensuring the proper handling and preservation of all units/parts while in the work process, installation, and storage. * Ensure the proper tagging and identification of all parts and components as outlined in CFR PPJR496E. * Determine that no defective, unserviceable, or un-airworthy parts are installed in any component or aircraft released by the repair station. * Periodically review, record, and document on-the-job training on form PAT-DAY-0003 as required. Provide documentation to the quality assurance department of all OJT & formal training to be incorporated into repair station personnel files. * Maintaining currency requirements for all special authorizations as required by repair station duties. * Comply with all safety and housekeeping policies. Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems or other technology as applicable to fabrication, repair, operation and maintenance requirements. Efficient in record keeping and preparation of reports; capable of reviewing other people's work and determining accuracy and conformity to standards. Proficient in the use of the Unit Level Logistics System-Aviation Enhanced (ULLS-AE), the current maintenance management system utilized to maintain Army aircraft forms and records. Thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems. This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills. Responsibilities The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions on aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneumatics, engines, axillary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. This worker will read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Qualifications Ability to travel 1-2 weeks at a time periodically / complete TDY assignments. Ability to make sound decisions when troubleshooting and maintaining avionics systems.
