Job Overview
Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you successfully complete the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission. This fact sheet highlights some unique operational requirements and the compensation plan.
Local Airport Details
- Maintains a seven days per week flight schedule.
- Peak times are Monday through Sunday during summer months, early mornings, and late afternoons.
- Screening operations are located inside the terminal and are temperature controlled.
Work Schedules
- TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Due to the nature of the job, virtually no flexibility is offered to accommodate personal commitments or schedules.
Part-Time Positions Available
- 20 hours per week tour of duty; four (4) days of five (5) hours or five (5) days of four (4) hours per day with two (2) consecutive days off.
- Hours per week are assigned based on seniority and gender.

Commuter Details
- Onsite parking is available for TSA employees free of charge.
- Public transportation to the airport is not available.
- Subsidies for transportation are not offered at OWB.

Travel and Training Requirements
If hired, your employment would be contingent upon successfully completing required classroom and on-the-job training. A minimum of three (3) weeks of travel in a full-time duty status may be required.
