Transportation Security Officer Job Overview
We are currently assessing candidates for full-time and part-time Transportation Security Officer (TSO) positions at the Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers, FL. If selected, you will play a vital role in support of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.
Local Airport Details
- Flight Schedule: 18 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Peak Season: November - May
- Screening Operations: Located inside the terminal; temperature control may vary
Work Schedules
TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include:
- Non-traditional shifts
- Weekends and holidays
Note: Specific shifts are assigned after training and are subject to change based on operational needs.
Shifts Available:
- Full-time: 40 hours per week
- Part-time: 25 hours per week (5 days, 5 hours per day)

Promotional Potential: TSOs can reach up to a 67% increase from the starting base salary over 5 years, along with any federal-wide pay increases.
Sign-On Bonus
Currently, there is no sign-on bonus offered for this location. Recruitment incentive amounts are subject to change.
Commuter Details
- Onsite Parking: Available for $10.00 per week
- Public Transportation: Available, but no subsidies offered

Travel and Training Requirements
Employment with TSA is contingent upon successfully completing required training. This may include:
- Up to 3 weeks of travel in a full-time status for training
- New hire training varies by location and may require up to 6 weeks of travel
Dress Code
TSO uniforms are provided, and there are restrictions on certain accessories and grooming while in uniform.
