Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). As a Transportation Security Officer (TSO), you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Location: CMX Houghton County Memorial Airport, Calumet, MI
• Flight Schedule: 12 hours a day, seven days a week
• Peak Times: Monday through Sunday: 4:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
• Work Environment: Screening operations inside the terminal may not be temperature controlled.

Work Schedules

• Flexible based on operational needs.
• May include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Specific shifts are assigned post-training and are subject to periodic adjustments.

Part-Time Positions

• Hours: 20 hours per week depending on operational needs.
• Shifts: Five days of four hours or four days of five hours. Split shifts may be included.

Sign-On Bonus

The TSA is currently offering a sign-on bonus of up to $2,000 for this duty location, payable in two installments over the first 12 months of service.

Commuter Details

• Onsite Parking: Available free of charge.
• Public Transportation: Not available; no subsidies for transportation.

Promotional Potential

New officers can achieve up to a 67% increase in base salary over 5 years in addition to federal-wide pay increases.

Travel and Training Requirements

• Employment contingent upon completing classroom and on-the-job training.
• Up to six weeks of full-time duty status travel may be required for training.

Dress Code

TSO uniforms are provided with restrictions on certain accessories and grooming while in uniform.
