Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in joining TSA as a Transportation Security Officer (TSO). If selected, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Location: VPS, Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport, Eglin Air Force Base, FL
• Flight Schedule: 15.5 hours, 7 days a week (4 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.)
• Peak Times:
  • 5 a.m. – 7 a.m.
  • 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
  • 2:30 p.m. – 4 p.m.
• Environment: Screening operations inside the terminal, temperature-controlled may vary.

Work Schedules

• Non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays included.
• Specific shifts assigned after training completion, with periodic adjustments based on operational needs.
• TSA employees are emergency personnel expected to report for duty during inclement weather.

Part-Time Positions

• 20 hours per week
• Morning and afternoon shifts available.

Sign-On Bonus

Currently, no sign-on bonus is offered.

Active Duty Military

Active duty military service members or reservists must be discharged or on terminal leave prior to employment.
