Job Overview: Transportation Security Officer (TSO)

Thank you for your interest in a position with TSA. As a Transportation Security Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security’s mission.

Local Airport Details

Location: Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport (BRD), Brainerd, MN

Flight Schedule: 24 hours a day, seven days a week

Peak Times: Monday through Sunday, 6 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Work Environment: Screening operations located inside the terminal, which may or may not be temperature controlled.

Work Schedules

TSO work schedules vary based on the airport's operational needs and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays. Specific shifts will be assigned upon completion of training and are subject to change.

• Hours: 20 hours per week, 4 days of 5 hours each, which may include split shifts.
• Due to the job nature, minimal flexibility for personal commitments is available. TSA employees must report to work during inclement weather.

Sign-On Bonus

Currently, there is no sign-on bonus available for this location.

Commuter Details

• Parking: Onsite parking available free of charge for TSA employees.
• Public Transportation: Not available; transportation subsidies are not provided.

Promotional Potential

TSOs can achieve up to a 67% increase in base salary over 5 years, in addition to federal pay changes.
