Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you successfully complete the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Location: McCook Ben Nelson Regional Airport, McCook, NE
• Hours of Operation:
  • Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Tuesday and Wednesday: 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM
• Screening operations are located inside the terminal and are temperature controlled.

Work Schedules

TSO work schedules are based on operational needs, including non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Employee schedules can range from 16-32 hours, up to 5 days per week.

Shifts can range from 2 to 10 hours a day; days/hours vary depending on airline schedules and airport operational needs.

Sign-On Bonus

The Transportation Security Administration is currently offering a sign-on bonus of up to $2,000 for this duty location; paid out in two installments during the first 12 months of service.

• Onsite parking is available for TSA employees at no charge.
• Public transportation is not available.
• Subsidies for transportation are not offered at MCK.

Travel and Training Requirements

Your employment would be contingent upon successfully completing required classroom and on-the-job training, which may require travel in a full-time duty status.

Dress Code

TSO uniforms are provided. There are restrictions on certain accessories and grooming while in uniform.
