Transportation Security Officer (TSO) Job Overview

If you successfully complete the TSO candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission. Local Airport Details
- Operation Hours: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Peak Times:
- Monday through Sunday: 6 a.m. – 6 p.m.
- Screening Location: Inside the terminal (may or may not be temperature controlled)
Work Schedules
- Based on the operational needs of the airport
- May include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Flexibility:
- Virtually no flexibility to accommodate personal commitments
- Specific shifts assigned after training completion
- Shifts subject to periodic adjustment to meet changing needs
- Emergency Personnel:
- Expected to report for duty during inclement weather
- Must comply regardless of state/local travel restrictions
Part-Time Positions (JLN – Joplin Regional Airport, Joplin, MO)
- Weekly Hours: 20 – 25
- Tour of Duty:
- 4–5 days per week
- 4–5 hours per day
- Morning, afternoon, evening, or split shifts
Effective Date: March 21, 2025
