Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you successfully complete the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Airport: Harrisburg International Airport, Middletown, PA
• Flight Schedule: Maintains a seven days per week flight schedule.
• Screening Operations: Located inside the terminal and may or may not be temperature controlled.

Work Schedule

• TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport, which may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Specific shifts are assigned after new hires successfully complete their training and are subject to periodic adjustments.
• TSA employees are considered emergency personnel and are expected to report for duty during inclement weather.

Shift Details

• Part-time positions: 20-32 hours per week
• Full-time shifts available through a seniority and availability process.

Commuter Details

• Onsite parking available for TSA employees free of charge with a refundable $10.00 card deposit.
• Public transportation to the airport is not available. Subsidies for transportation are not offered at MDT.

Under the career ladder system for TSOs, new officers can achieve up to a 67% salary increase within 5 years, in addition to federal-wide pay increases.

Travel and Training Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing required training, which may require travel.

Dress Code

TSO uniforms are provided. There are restrictions on certain accessories and grooming while in uniform.
