Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in joining the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Successful candidates will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Airport Location: Columbia Metropolitan Airport, West Columbia, SC
• Operating Hours: 2 hours prior to the first flight until the last departure daily.
• Peak Times:
  • Monday through Sunday: 5 a.m. – 7 a.m.
  • 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
• Screening operations may be inside the terminal and not necessarily temperature controlled.

Work Schedules

• TSO schedules are based on operational needs, including non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• There is limited flexibility in accommodating personal commitments.
• Specific shifts are assigned post-training and may adjust as operational needs change.
• TSA employees are expected to report for duty during inclement weather.

Employment Type

CAE hires candidates for both part-time and full-time positions based on current needs.

Sign-On Bonus

This location is not offering a sign-on bonus at this time.

Commuter Details

• Free onsite parking for TSA employees.
• Public transportation to the airport is not available.
• No transportation subsidies offered.

Up to 67% Base Salary Increase over 5 years.
Regular federal pay increases are also available.

Travel and Training Requirements

Employment with TSA is contingent upon completing required classroom and on-the-job training. This may include a minimum of three weeks of travel in a full-time duty status.
