Transportation Security Officer Job Overview
Thank you for considering employment with TSA. As a Transportation Security Officer (TSO), you'll play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.
Local Airport Details
- Location: Cold Bay Airport, Cold Bay, AK
- Schedule: 8 hours per day, 2 days per week
- Peak Times: Wednesday and Saturday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
- Environment: Screening operations inside the terminal; may not be temperature controlled.
Work Schedules
TSO work schedules depend on operational needs, including non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Note: Limited flexibility is offered for personal commitments. Specific shifts are assigned post-training and may change based on operational demands. TSA employees are considered emergency personnel and must report during inclement weather.
Part-time Opportunities
We are assessing candidates for part-time positions:
- Hours: 16 hrs. per week (two workdays, eight hours each).
Sign-On Bonus
Currently, there is no sign-on bonus available at this location.

Travel and Training Requirements
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of classroom and on-the-job training, which may require up to six weeks of full-time travel away from your airport of record. Compensable hours and travel expenses will be reimbursed.
Dress Code
TSO uniforms are provided, with restrictions on personal grooming and accessories while in uniform.
