Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in employment with TSA. If selected as a Transportation Security Officer (TSO), you will help protect the nation’s transportation systems and ensure safe travel.

Local Airport Details

• Location: Mobile Regional Airport, Mobile, AL
• Flight Schedule: 17 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Peak Times:
    • 4:30 a.m. – 7 a.m.
    • 2 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
• Screening Operations: Located inside the terminal; may or may not be temperature controlled.

Work Schedules

• Shift assignments will be based on operational needs and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Limited flexibility due to the nature of the job.
• Current Hours:
  • 20 hours per week, five days of four hours each day.
  • Possible schedules:
    • 4:15 a.m. – 8:15 a.m.
    • 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
• RDOs (Regular days off) will be mid-week (Mon/Tue, Tue/Wed, or Wed/Thurs).
• May work shifts at BFM.

Promotional Potential

Under the career ladder system for TSOs, new officers can achieve up to a 67% increase from the starting base salary over five years, in addition to any federal-wide pay increases.

Currently, there is no sign-on bonus available for this location. Recruitment incentives may change at the time of the final job offer.

• Public transportation to the airport is available.
• Transportation subsidies are not offered at MOB.
