Transportation Security Officer Job Overview
Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you successfully complete the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.
Local Airport Details
- Yearly operations: seven days a week, 5:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
- Screening operations are located inside the terminal and may or may not be temperature controlled.
Work Schedules
TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays. Due to the nature of the job, virtually no flexibility is offered to accommodate personal commitments or schedules.
Part-time positions available:
- 16 - 32 hours per week
- Four (4) to five (5) days a week

Sign-On Bonus*
The Transportation Security Administration is currently offering a sign-on bonus of up to $2,000 for this duty location; paid out in two installments during the first 12 months of service.

Commuter Details
- Onsite parking is available for TSA employees free of charge.
- Public transportation to the airport is not available.
- Subsidies for transportation are not offered at RKS.

Promotional Potential
Under the career ladder system for TSOs, new officers have a path to reach up to a 67% increase from the starting base salary over 5 years, in addition to any federal-wide pay increases or changes to locality pay.
Travel and Training Requirements
If hired by TSA, your employment would be contingent upon completing required classroom and on-the-job training. Training may necessitate traveling for up to six (6) weeks in a full-time duty status.
Dress Code
TSO uniforms are provided to employees. There are restrictions on certain accessories and grooming while in uniform.
