Transportation Security Officer Job Overview
Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you successfully complete the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.
Local Airport Details
- Location: Southwest Georgia Regional Airport, Albany, GA
- Operation Times:
- Monday through Sunday: 4 a.m. – 6 p.m.
- Morning, afternoon, and evening shifts.
- Work Schedule:
- TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport, which may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Part-time positions available with 20 hours per week and shifts of 4 to 5 hours for 4 to 5 days.
Compensation and Benefits
- Sign-On Bonus: Currently not offered.
- Promotional Potential: New officers can achieve up to a 67% salary increase over 5 years, in addition to federal pay increases.

Commuter Details
- Onsite parking available for TSA employees for a $25.00 one-time swipe card fee.
- Public transportation is not available; transportation subsidies are not offered.
Travel and Training Requirements
If hired by TSA, you must complete required classroom and on-the-job training. This may involve three (3) weeks of travel in a full-time duty status to complete training.
Dress Code
TSO uniforms are provided, with specific restrictions on accessories and grooming while in uniform.
