Job Overview: Transportation Security Officer (TSO)
Your role will be vital in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission. Upon successful completion of the TSO candidate evaluation process, you will assist with the secure screening of travelers and their belongings at the airport.
Local Airport Details
- Location: Northeast Wyoming Regional Airport, Gillette, WY
- Operations: Yearly operations, seven days a week, from 5:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
- Environment: Screening operations may not always be temperature controlled.
Work Schedules
- Hours: 16-32 hours of duty per week; may include rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Availability: Limited flexibility for personal commitments due to the nature of the job.
- Emergency Personnel: TSA employees must report for duty during inclement weather.
Sign-On Bonus
TSA is currently offering a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 for this duty location, paid in two installments during the first 12 months of service. (Amount subject to change and determined at the time of final job offer.)
Commuter Details
- Onsite parking available for employees at no cost.
- Public transportation to the airport is not provided, and subsidies for transportation are not offered.

Promotional Potential
New TSOs have the potential for a 67% salary increase over five years, in addition to any federal-wide pay increases.
Travel and Training Requirements
Employment is contingent upon successfully completing TSA's New Hire training, which may involve three to six weeks of travel.
Dress Code
TSO uniforms are provided, and certain restrictions are applied regarding accessories and grooming while in uniform.
