Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If selected for the position of Transportation Security Officer (TSO), you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission. Below are details regarding the job's requirements and compensation.

Local Airport Details

• Location: Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, Baton Rouge, LA
• Flight Schedule: 15.5 hours a day, seven days per week
• Peak Times:
  • Sunday through Friday:
    • 4:30 a.m. – 8 a.m.
    • 1 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Work Schedules

TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.

• Weekly Hours: 25 hours, five (5) days of five (5) hours per day
• Shifts: Morning and afternoon shifts
• Emergency Personnel: TSA employees are expected to report for duty during inclement weather.

Travel and Training Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing required training, which may include up to six (6) weeks of travel. Employees will be reimbursed for authorized travel expenses per TSA Travel Policy.
