Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you successfully complete the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission. Below are some key operational requirements and compensation details.

Local Airport Details

• Location: Cape Girardeau Regional Airport, Cape Girardeau, MO
• Schedule: 12 hours a day, seven days per week
  Peak times: Monday - Sunday: 5 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  Screening operations may or may not be temperature controlled.

Work Schedules

TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays. Due to the nature of the job, flexibility to accommodate personal commitments is virtually non-existent. Specific shifts will be assigned after completion of training.

Part-Time Positions Available
20 hours per week, five (5) days of four (4) hours per day during various shifts.

Sign-On Bonus

This location is not offering a sign-on bonus at this time.
Recruitment Incentive amount is subject to change at the time of final job offer.

Promotional Potential

Under the career ladder system for TSOs, new officers have a path to achieve up to a 67% increase from the starting base salary over 5 years.

Commuter Details

• Onsite parking is available for TSA employees free of charge.
• Public transportation to the airport is not available.
• Transportation subsidies are not offered.

Travel and Training Requirements

If hired, your employment will be contingent upon completing required classroom and on-the-job training, which may require a minimum of three (3) weeks of travel in a full-time duty status.

Dress Code

Uniforms are provided, and there are restrictions on specific accessories and grooming while in uniform.
