Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in employment with the TSA. If selected for a Transportation Security Officer (TSO) position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Location: Trenton-Mercer Airport, Trenton, NJ
• Airlines Served: Allegiant Air and Frontier Airlines
• Shifts:
  • Morning Shift: 4 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
  • Afternoon Shift: 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Work Schedules

TSO work schedules are determined by the operational needs of the airport and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays. Flexibility is limited due to the nature of the job, and shifts will be assigned after training.

Employment Type

• Part-Time Positions:
• 25 hours per week
• Three (3) workdays with 8 to 9 hours per day

Promotional Potential

Under the career ladder system for TSOs, new officers have a path to a potential increase of up to 67% from the starting base salary over five years, in addition to federal-wide pay increases.

Training Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing classroom and on-the-job training, which may include travel in a full-time capacity for up to six weeks.
