Transportation Security Officer Job Overview
We appreciate your interest in joining TSA as a Transportation Security Officer (TSO). After successfully completing the candidate evaluation process, selected individuals will play a crucial role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission. Below are essential details regarding the position.
Local Airport Details
- Location: Devils Lake Regional Airport, Devils Lake, ND
- Flight Schedule: Maintains a seven (7) days per week operational schedule.
- Peak Times: Operations occur between 4:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. inside the terminal, which may or may not be temperature controlled.
Work Schedules
- Work Hours: Schedules are based on the airport's operational needs and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Flexibility: Minimal flexibility to accommodate personal commitments; specific shifts assigned post-training.
- Emergency Personnel: TSA employees are required to report during inclement weather.
Part-Time Opportunities
We are currently assessing candidates for part-time positions with shifts of 20-25 hours per week at variable hours, which may include split shifts.
Sign-On Bonus
TSA is offering a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 for this duty location, paid in two installments during the first 12 months of service.
Commuter Details
- Parking: Onsite parking is available for TSA employees free of charge.
- Public Transport: Not available to the airport; transportation subsidies are not offered.

Promotional Potential
New officers can achieve up to a 67% increase from the starting salary over five years, in addition to pay increases and changes in locality pay.
Training Requirements
Successful candidates will be required to complete TSA's New Hire training, which may involve travel and on-the-job training, ranging from three to six weeks, depending on the duty location.
