Transportation Security Officer (TSO) Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you successfully complete the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Maintains a 24/7 flight schedule.
• Peak times: Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 6 a.m. – 8 p.m.
• Shifts: Mornings, afternoons, and evenings.
• Screening operations may or may not be temperature controlled.

Work Schedules

TSO work schedules are based on operational needs and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays. Due to the nature of the job, virtually no flexibility is offered to accommodate personal commitments. Specific shifts are assigned after training and are subject to periodic adjustments. TSA employees are emergency personnel expected to report during inclement weather.

Position Details

Location: Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Ft. Lauderdale, FL
Hours: 20-25 hours per week, schedules may vary.

Sign-On Bonus

This location is not offering a sign-on bonus at this time.

Commuter Details

• Offsite parking available for TSA employees at $10.70 per month.
• Public transportation to the airport via Tri-Rail and Broward County Mass Transit is available with subsidies offered at FLL.

Additional Details

• Dress Code: TSO uniforms will be provided; certain accessories and grooming are restricted while in uniform.
• Travel and Training Requirements: Employment contingent upon completing required classroom and on-the-job training, which may require travel.
