Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in a position with TSA. As a Transportation Security Officer (TSO), you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Location: Hilo International Airport, Hilo, HI
• Flight Schedule: Seven days per week
• Peak Times:
  • 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.
  • 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.
• Screening operations occur both inside and outside the terminal, possibly in non-temperature controlled environments.

Work Schedules

• Shifts are assigned based on airport operational needs and may include non-traditional hours, weekends, and holidays.
• Part-Time: 25-40 hours per week, with shifts of 4-5 hours per day.
• Full-Time: 40 hours per week, with shifts of 8 hours per day.

Travel and Training Requirements

Employment with TSA is contingent upon successfully completing required training. This may include travel for up to six weeks away from the airport.
