Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you successfully complete the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Location: San Angelo Regional Airport, San Angelo, TX
• Flight schedule: 16 hours a day, seven days per week
• Peak times: Monday through Sunday, 5 a.m. – 6 p.m.
• Screening operations: May not be temperature controlled.

Work Schedules

• TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Specific shifts are assigned after training and are subject to periodic adjustments.
• TSA employees are expected to report for duty during inclement weather regardless of travel restrictions.

Current Openings

• Part-time positions available.
• 20 hours per week, five (5) days of four (4) hours per day. Last shift ends at 6:30 p.m.

Sign-On Bonus

This location is not offering a sign-on bonus at this time.

Commuter Details

• Onsite parking is available for TSA employees free of charge.
• Public transportation to the airport is not available.
• Subsidies for transportation are not offered at SJT.

Promotional Potential

Up to 67% base salary increase over 5 years. Additional federal-wide pay increases or changes to locality pay may apply.

Travel and Training Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing required classroom and on-the-job training, which may require travel away from your airport of record.

Dress Code

TSO uniforms are provided, and there are restrictions on certain accessories and grooming while in uniform.
