Job Overview
As a Transportation Security Officer (TSO), you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission. This fact sheet highlights some unique operational requirements and compensation plans.
Local Airport Details
- Maintains a sixteen (16) hour per day, seven (7) days per week flight schedule.
- Workdays: 3:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily
- Peak Times:
- Monday through Sunday: 5 a.m. – 7 a.m.
- 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
- Screening operations may or may not be temperature controlled.
Work Schedules
TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays. Specific shifts are assigned after successful completion of training and are subject to periodic adjustments to meet operational needs.
Part-time Positions Available
- Hours: 20 hours per week
- Schedules subject to change based on operational needs.
Sign-On Bonus
Currently, this location is not offering a sign-on bonus. Recruitment incentive amount is subject to change and will be determined at the time of the final job offer.
Commuter Details
- Onsite parking is available for TSA employees for a cost of $60 per year, subsidized by TSA.
- Public transportation to the airport is not available.
- Transportation subsidies are offered.

Promotional Potential
Under the career ladder system, new officers have a path to a 67% increase in base salary over 5 years in addition to any federal-wide pay increases or changes to locality pay.
Travel and Training Requirements
Employment is contingent upon successfully completing required training. A minimum of three (3) weeks of travel may be required for New Hire training, which could extend to six (6) weeks. Employees will be compensated for hours and reimbursed for authorized travel expenses.
Dress Code
Uniforms are provided, with restrictions on certain accessories and grooming while in uniform.
