Job Overview: Transportation Security Officer (TSO)
Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you successfully complete the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.
Work Schedule
- Local Airport Details: Sheridan County Airport, Sheridan, WY
- Operation Hours: 4:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., seven days a week.
- Shifts: TSO schedules are based on airport needs, including non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays. Minimal flexibility is available for personal commitments.
Part-Time Positions Available
- 16 - 32 hours per week
- Four (4) to five (5) days a week
Sign-On Bonus
TSA is currently offering a sign-on bonus of up to $2,000 for this duty location, paid in two installments during the first 12 months of service. (Recruitment Incentive amount is subject to change.)

Promotional Potential
Under the career ladder system for TSOs, new officers can earn up to a 67% base salary increase over 5 years, plus any federal-wide pay increases.

- No public transportation is available.
- Transportation subsidies are not offered.
Travel and Training Requirements
Employment with TSA is contingent upon successfully completing required training, including potential travel away from your airport.
Dress Code
TSO uniforms are provided. There are specific restrictions on accessories and grooming while in uniform.
Active Duty Military
Active duty military personnel must either be discharged or on terminal leave before beginning employment with TSA.
