Transportation Security Officer Job Overview
Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you successfully complete the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.
Local Airport Details
- Airport: Pueblo Memorial Airport (PUB), Pueblo, CO
- Flight Schedule: Seven days a week
- Peak Times:
- Monday through Friday: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Work Schedules
TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays. Due to the nature of the job, virtually no flexibility is offered to accommodate personal commitments or schedules.
Part-Time Positions
PUB is currently assessing candidates for part-time positions. Those shifts are:
- 20 hours per week
- Four (4) days of five (5) hours per day
- Current part-time shifts: morning, afternoon, and evening.
Sign-On Bonus
This location is not offering a sign-on bonus at this time.
Commuter Details
- Onsite and Offsite parking for TSA employees is free of charge at PUB.
- Public transportation to the airport is not available.
- Subsidies for public transportation are not provided at PUB.

Promotional Potential
Under the career ladder system for TSOs, new officers have a path to reach up to a 67% increase from the starting base salary over 5 years.
Travel and Training Requirements
If hired by TSA, your employment would be contingent upon successfully completing required classroom and on-the-job training. A minimum of three (3) weeks of travel in a full-time duty status may be required to complete TSA's New Hire training, which may vary by duty location.
Dress Code
TSO uniforms are provided to employees with certain restrictions on accessories and grooming.
