Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

As a Transportation Security Officer (TSO), you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission. This role involves meeting unique operational requirements and comes with a competitive compensation plan.

Local Airport Details

• Location: Massena International Airport, Massena, NY
• Schedule: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with peak times from 6 a.m. – 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
• Work Environment: Screening operations may be temperature-controlled and are located inside the terminal.

Work Schedules

TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include:

• Non-traditional shifts
• Weekends and holidays

Due to the nature of the job, there is virtually no flexibility to accommodate personal commitments. Specific shifts are assigned post-training and may change based on operational needs.

Employment Type

• Full-Time and Part-Time Positions Available
• 20 hours per week tour of duty, which may include:
  • Two days with 16 hours one week
  • Three days with 24 hours the next week

Promotional Potential

TSOs can achieve up to a 67% increase from the starting base salary over five years, alongside potential federal-wide pay increases.

• Training Requirements: New hires may need to travel for training and will be reimbursed for authorized travel expenses.
