Job Overview

As a Transportation Security Officer (TSO), you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission. This position involves unique operational requirements and a comprehensive compensation plan.

Local Airport Details

• Location: Snohomish County Airport-Paine Field, Everett, WA
• Flight Schedule: 17.5 hours a day, seven days per week
• Peak Times:
  • Monday through Sunday: 3:30 a.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Morning, afternoon, and evening hours
• Screening Operations: Located inside the terminal; temperature may vary.

Work Schedules

• TSO schedules are based on airport operational needs and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Virtually no flexibility for personal commitments or schedules.
• Employees are expected to report for duty during inclement weather.

Part-Time Positions

• Hours: 25 hours per week tour of duty.
• Shifts: Varying days and hours depending on airport needs.

Promotional Potential

Under the career ladder system, new officers can achieve up to a 67% increase in base salary over five years, in addition to regular federal pay increases.

Additional Information

• Onsite parking is available for TSA employees.
• Training requirements include a minimum of three weeks of travel for new hires.
• TSO uniforms are provided; there are grooming and accessory restrictions while in uniform.
