Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in employment with TSA. As a Transportation Security Officer (TSO), you will have a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Location: Des Moines International Airport, Des Moines, IA
• Flight Schedule: 17 hours a day, seven days a week
  • Peak Times:
    • 3:30 a.m. – 7:30 a.m.
    • 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
    • 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
• Screening operations may be temperature controlled and located inside the terminal.

Work Schedules

• TSO work schedules are based on operational needs and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Specific shifts are assigned post-training and are subject to change.
• Part-Time: 25 hours per week (5 workdays at 5 hours/day)

Sign-On Bonus

The TSA is currently offering a sign-on bonus of up to $2,000 for this location, paid in two installments during the first 12 months of service.
