Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you successfully complete the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Location: Wiley Post - Will Rogers Memorial Airport, Barrow, AK
• Flight Schedule: 8 hours a day, seven days per week.
• Peak Times: Sunday to Saturday: 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. & 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
• Screening Operations: Located inside the terminal, may or may not be temperature controlled.

Work Schedules

TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays. Specific shifts are assigned after training and are subject to periodic adjustments.

Available Positions

• Full-Time Split-Shift: 40 hours per week.
• 5 workdays with 8 hours per day during morning and afternoon shifts.

Sign-On Bonus

TSA is currently offering a sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 for this duty location, paid in two installments during the first 12 months of service. Recruitment Incentive amount is subject to change.

Commuter Details

• Onsite parking available for TSA employees at no charge.
• Public transportation to the airport is not available.

Promotional Potential

New officers have a path to reach up to a 67% salary increase over 5 years in addition to federal-wide pay increases.

Travel and Training Requirements

If hired, employment will be contingent upon successful completion of required training. A minimum of three (3) weeks of travel in full-time duty status may be required.
