Job Overview: Transportation Security Officer (TSO)

Thank you for your interest in a TSO position at TSA. If selected, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission. Below are some key details about the role, work schedules, and compensation.

Local Airport Details

• Airport: Portland International Airport (PDX), Portland, OR
• Flight Schedule: 24/7 operations with peak times:
• 4 a.m. – 8 a.m.
• 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
• 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Work Schedules

• Full-Time: 40 hours per week
• Part-Time: 20 hours per week (4-5 days, 4-5 hours each day)
• Shift Times:
• Morning: 3:30 a.m. to 5:15 a.m.
• Afternoon: 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Evening: 3:15 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

TSA employees are emergency personnel and are expected to report for duty during inclement weather.

Sign-On Bonus

TSA is offering a sign-on bonus of up to $2,000 for this duty location, paid in two installments during the first 12 months of service.

Promotional Potential

Under the career ladder system for TSOs, new officers can achieve a salary increase of up to 67% over 5 years, in addition to federal pay increases.

Commuter Details

• Offsite parking for TSA employees: $35.00 per month
• Public transportation to the airport is available, with transportation subsidies provided.
