Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in joining the TSA as a Transportation Security Officer (TSO). If selected, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Location: Billings Logan International Airport, Billings, MT
• Flight Schedule: 18 hours a day, seven days a week
• Peak Times:
  • Monday through Sunday: 4:30 a.m. – 6:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
• Screening Operations: Located inside the terminal; temperature-controlled environments may vary.

Work Schedules

TSO work schedules are based on operational needs and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.

• Expected Commitment: 25-40 hours per week; five days of five hours each, with two consecutive days off. This may include irregular hours, nights, holidays, weekend shifts, changing shifts, and split shifts.

Sign-On Bonus

This location is not offering a sign-on bonus at this time. Recruitment incentives are subject to change.

Commuter Details

• Onsite parking is available free of charge for TSA employees.
• Public transportation is not available, and transportation subsidies are not offered.

Promotional Potential

Under the career ladder system, you may have a path to achieve up to a 67% increase in your base salary over five years, in addition to any federal-wide pay increases.

Travel and Training Requirements

If hired, you must complete required classroom and on-the-job training, which may include up to three weeks of travel. This training will occur away from your airport of record.

Dress Code

TSO uniforms are provided, with specific grooming and accessory restrictions while in uniform.
