Transportation Security Officer Job Overview
Thank you for your interest in employment with the TSA. As a Transportation Security Officer (TSO), you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.
Local Airport Details
- Location: Fairbanks International Airport, Fairbanks, AK
- Flight Schedule: 24 hours per day, 7 days per week
- Peak Times:
- 4 a.m. – 9 a.m.
- 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- 2:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.
- 9 p.m. – 1:30 a.m.
Work Schedules
- TSO schedules are based on airport operational needs and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Full-time: 40 hrs. per week
- Part-time: 20 hrs. per week
- Specific shifts are assigned after training and are subject to periodic adjustments.
Compensation
- Sign-On Bonus: Currently not offered.
- Recruitment incentive amounts are subject to change at the time of the final job offer.

Travel and Training Requirements
Employment is contingent upon successfully completing required classroom and on-the-job training, which may include up to six weeks of travel in a full-time duty status.
Dress Code
TSO uniforms are provided, and there are restrictions on accessories and grooming while in uniform.
