Transportation Security Officer Job Overview
Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If selected, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission. Below are details about the role and compensation plan.
Local Airport Details
Location: La Crosse Regional Airport, La Crosse, WI
Flight Schedule: Seven days a week from 4 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.
Note: Screening operations may not be temperature controlled; hours of operation are subject to change.
Work Schedules
- TSO work schedules are based on airport needs and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Virtually no flexibility for personal commitments is offered due to the nature of the job.
- Specific shifts assigned post-training may be adjusted to meet operational needs.
- TSA employees are emergency personnel and must report for duty during inclement weather.
Part-Time Positions
Currently assessing candidates for part-time positions:
- Hours: 20 hours per week, four days a week.
- Shifts may include irregular hours, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: Competitive salaries plus potential promotional pay increases up to 67% base salary over 5 years.
- Sign-On Bonus: Currently, no sign-on bonus available, but recruitment incentive amounts may change.

Travel and Training Requirements
Employment is contingent upon successfully completing training, which may require travel. Training consists of a minimum of three weeks in full-time status and may vary by duty location. Employees will be reimbursed for authorized travel expenses per TSA Travel Policy.
Dress Code
Uniforms are provided, with restrictions on accessories, grooming, and personal electronic devices while in uniform.
