Job Overview: Transportation Security Officer

Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you successfully complete the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Location: Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA), Bentonville, AR
• Flight Schedule:
  • Peak Times:
    • Sunday-Friday: 4:45 p.m.-6 a.m., 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.
    • Saturday: 4:45 a.m.-9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
  • Screening operations may or may not be temperature controlled.

Work Schedules

TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays. Note: Specific shifts are assigned after training and are subject to adjustments due to changing operational needs.

Current Openings

• Part-Time Positions:
  • 25 hours per week
  • Five (5) days of five (5) hours per day
  • Morning and evening shifts

Promotional Potential

Under the career ladder system for TSOs, new officers can achieve up to a 67% base salary increase over 5 years.

Commuter Details

• Onsite parking available for TSA employees at $16.30 per month.
• Public transportation is not available.

Travel and Training Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing required classroom and on-the-job training. A minimum of three (3) weeks of travel in a full-time capacity may be required.

Dress Code

TSO uniforms are provided, with specific restrictions on accessories and grooming while in uniform.
