Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in employment with the TSA. If selected, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission. This post contains details about the operational requirements and compensation plan.

Local Airport Details

• Schedule: 14 hours a day, 7 days a week
• Peak Times: Varies Monday through Sunday
• Location: Inside the terminal, may not be temperature controlled

Work Schedules

• Shifts based on operational needs, including weekends and holidays
• Limited flexibility for personal commitments
• Specific shifts assigned post-training and may adjust due to operational needs
• TSA employees are emergency personnel expected to report during inclement weather

SGU is currently assessing candidates for part-time positions with the following shifts:

• Tour of Duty: 20 hours per week, 3 to 5 days, 2 to 8 hours per day (morning, afternoon, evening)

Travel and Training Requirements

Employment with TSA is contingent upon successfully completing required training. This may involve a minimum of 3 weeks of travel in a full-time duty status.
