Transportation Security Officer (TSO) Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in employment with TSA. If you are selected as a Transportation Security Officer (TSO), you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Location: Mammoth Yosemite, Mammoth Lakes, CA
• Hours: 8-10 hours a day, seven days per week (Varies by peak season)
• Peak Times: Monday through Sunday: 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.
• Work Environment: Screening operations located both inside and outside the terminal, may not be temperature controlled.

Work Schedules

TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays. Specific shifts are assigned after the completion of training and are subject to periodic adjustments.

Current Openings

• Tour of Duty: 25 – 40 hours per week
• Shifts: Five (5) days with 5 to 8 hours per day (includes split shifts)

Sign-On Bonus

Currently, no sign-on bonus is offered at this location.

Promotional Potential

New officers can achieve up to a 67% increase in base salary over 5 years, in addition to federal-wide pay increases.

Commuter Details

• Onsite parking is available for TSA employees at no charge.
• Public transportation to the airport is not available; no subsidies for transportation are offered at MMH.

Dress Code

Uniforms are provided to employees, and there are restrictions on certain accessories and grooming while in uniform.
