Job Overview: Transportation Security Officer (TSO)

Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you successfully complete the TSO candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Location: Rapid City Regional Airport, Rapid City, SD
• Maintains a 12-20 hours a day, seven days per week flight schedule.
• Peak times:
  • 5 a.m. – 7 a.m.
  • 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
• Screening operations may or may not be temperature controlled, and operations are seasonal.

Work Schedules

• TSO work schedules are based on operational needs and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Specific shifts are assigned after training and are subject to adjustments.
• TSA employees are considered emergency personnel and must report for duty during inclement weather.

Current Part-Time Positions

• 20-30 hours per week
• Shifts: four (4) to five (5) shifts per week, each lasting four (4) to eight (8) hours.
• Current shifts: morning and afternoon.

Sign-On Bonus

This location is not offering a sign-on bonus at this time.

Commuter Details

• Onsite parking available for $10.00 per month.
• Public transportation is not available, and transportation subsidies are not offered.
