Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you successfully complete the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Location: Garden City Regional Airport, Garden City, KS
• Flight Schedule: Maintains a seven days per week flight schedule
• Peak Times: Monday through Sunday, Various days (Morning, Afternoon, Evening)
• Screening Operations: Located inside the terminal, which may or may not be temperature controlled.

Work Schedules

TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays. Due to the nature of the job, virtually no flexibility is offered to accommodate personal commitments or schedules. Specific shifts are assigned after new hires complete their training and are subject to periodic adjustments.

GCK is currently assessing candidates for 20 hours per week tour of duty that can include split shifts:

• Four (4) or Five (5) days of four (4) to five (5) hours per day
• Current Part-Time Shifts:
  • M-F: 5-7 p.m., 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., 4 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
  • Sat.: 6:15 a.m.-8:15 a.m. or 12 p.m.–5:30 p.m.
  • Sun.: 7:15 a.m.–9:15 a.m. or 12 p.m.–5:30 p.m.

Sign-On Bonus

This location is not offering a sign-on bonus at this time. Recruitment Incentive amount is subject to change and will be determined at the time of final job offer.

Commuter Details

• Onsite parking is available for TSA employees free of charge.
• Public transportation to the airport is available.
• Subsidies for transportation are not offered at GCK.
