Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in employment with TSA. As a Transportation Security Officer (TSO), you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

Screening operations are located inside Missoula Montana Airport terminal and may or may not be temperature controlled.

Work Schedules

• TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Virtually no flexibility is offered for personal commitments or schedules.
• Specific shifts assigned after training and subject to periodic adjustments.
• TSA employees must report for duty during inclement weather.

Available Hours

25 - 40 hours per week tour of duty.

• Five (5) days of five (5) hours per day with two consecutive days off.
• Shifts may include irregular hours, nights, holidays, weekend shifts, changing shifts, and split shifts.

Sign-On Bonus

The TSA is currently offering a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 for this duty location, paid out in two installments during the first 12 months of service.

• Public transportation to the airport is not available.
• Subsidies for transportation are not offered at MSO.

Path to reach up to a 67% increase from starting base salary over 5 years, in addition to any federal-wide pay increases.

Travel and Training Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing required training, which may require up to three (3) weeks of travel in full-time duty status.

Dress Code

TSO uniforms are provided. There are restrictions on accessories and grooming while in uniform.
