Transportation Security Officer Job Overview
Thank you for your interest in employment with TSA. If selected for the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.
Local Airport Details
- Airport: Midland International Air and Space Port (MAF), Midland, TX
- Flight Schedule: Maintains a seven days per week flight schedule
- Peak Times:
- Monday through Sunday:
- 4 a.m. – 6:30 a.m.
- 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
- 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Monday through Sunday:
- Working Conditions: Screening operations are located inside the terminal and may not be temperature controlled.
Work Schedules
- Hours: 20-40 hours per week
- Shifts: Four (4) to five (5) days per week with four (4) to eight (8) hours per day
- Availability: Morning, afternoon, and evening shifts.
TSA employees are considered emergency personnel and are expected to report for duty during inclement weather.
Sign-On Bonus
TSA is currently offering a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 for this duty location, paid in two installments during the first 12 months of service.
Recruitment Incentive amount is subject to change based on the time of the final job offer.
Commuter Details
- Onsite parking available for TSA employees for $24.00 per year.
- Public transportation to the airport is not available.
- No transportation subsidies offered at MAF.

Under the career ladder for TSOs, new officers can achieve up to a 67% increase from the starting base salary over five years, in addition to any federal-wide pay increases or changes in locality pay.

Additional Information
