Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in employment with TSA. As a Transportation Security Officer (TSO), you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission. Below are some unique operational requirements and compensation details.

Local Airport Details

• Location: Joslin Field / Magic Valley Regional Airport, Twin Falls, ID
• Schedule: 11.5 hour days, 7 days a week
• Peak Times: Monday to Sunday, 5 a.m. – 6:30 a.m.
• Screening Operations: Located inside the terminal; may not be temperature controlled.

Work Schedules

• Shifts: Based on operational needs, may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Flexibility: Limited flexibility to accommodate personal commitments. Specific shifts assigned after training and subject to changes.
• Emergency Personnel: Expected to report during inclement weather regardless of travel restrictions.

Part-Time Positions

• Hours: 16 – 32 hours a week
• Days: Four (4) to five (5) days; four (4) to eight (8) hours per day across morning, afternoon, and evening shifts.

Compensation

• Sign-On Bonus: Not available at this time. Recruitment incentive amounts are subject to change.

Promotional Potential

New officers have a path to a salary increase of up to 67% over five years, in addition to federal-wide pay increases.

• Parking: Onsite parking available for TSA employees at no charge.
• Public Transportation: Available, but no subsidies offered.

Travel and Training Requirements

Employment contingent upon successful completion of required classroom and on-the-job training, which may require travel.

Dress Code

Uniforms provided with restrictions on certain accessories and grooming while in uniform.
