Transportation Security Officer Job Overview
We are currently seeking candidates for the role of Transportation Security Officer (TSO) at MBS International Airport in Freeland, MI. If selected for this position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.
Local Airport Details
- Operating Hours: 16.5 hours a day, seven days a week
- Peak Times:
- Monday to Sunday: 5 a.m. – 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.
- Environment: Screening operations are conducted inside the terminal in a temperature-controlled setting.
Work Schedules
TSOs will work based on the operational needs of the airport, including non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays. This role offers virtually no flexibility for personal schedules, with specific shifts assigned after training. TSA employees are emergency personnel and must report for duty during inclement weather.
Part-Time Opportunity
Current assessment for candidates: 20–22.5 hours per week over five days with shifts of four to five hours each.
Note: Split shifts may be required.

Promotional Potential
TSOs have the potential to earn up to a 67% increase in base salary over five years, with additional federal pay increases.

- Parking: Onsite parking is available for free to TSA employees.
- Public Transport: Not available; transportation subsidies are not offered.
Requirement & Training
Employment at TSA is contingent upon successfully completing required classroom and on-the-job training. This may include:
- Up to three weeks of travel in full-time duty status.
- Occasional travel requirements during employment.
Dress Code
TSO uniforms are provided, and specific grooming standards must be followed while in uniform.
