Transportation Security Officer Job Overview
Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you successfully complete the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.
Local Airport Details
- Location: Wrangell Airport, Wrangell, AK
- Flight Schedule: 9 hours per day, 7 days per week
- Peak Times: Monday through Sunday: 8:15 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.
- Screening Operations: Located inside the terminal, may or may not be temperature controlled.
Work Schedules
TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays. Specific shifts are assigned after new hires successfully complete their training. No flexibility to accommodate personal commitments.
Full-Time Positions
- Hours: 40 hrs. per week, consisting of five (5) workdays per week with eight (8) hour shifts per day.
- Sign-On Bonus: Up to $5,000 for this duty location, paid out in two installments during the first 12 months of service. Incentive amount is subject to change.
Commuter Details
- Onsite parking is available for TSA employees free of charge.
- Public transportation to the airport is not available; subsidies for transportation are not offered.

Travel and Training Requirements
Employment is contingent upon successfully completing required training. A minimum of three (3) weeks of travel in full-time duty status may be required to complete TSA's New Hire training.
