Transportation Security Officer Job Overview
Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you successfully complete the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.
Local Airport Details
- Maintains a 24 hour per day, 7 days per week flight schedule.
- Peak times:
- Sunday through Saturday: 5 a.m. – 9 a.m.
- 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- 9:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
- Screening operations are located inside the terminal and may or may not be temperature controlled.
Work Schedules
TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays. Due to the nature of the job, virtually no flexibility is offered to accommodate personal commitments or schedules.
Full-time positions consist of 40 hours per week with four (4) or five (5) workdays and eight (8) to ten (10) hour shifts. Part-time positions consist of 25 hours per week with up to five (5) hours per day during morning/afternoon/evening shifts.
Sign-On Bonus
The Transportation Security Administration is currently offering a sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 for this duty location; paid out in two installments during the first 12 months of service.
Commuter Details
- Onsite parking is available for TSA employees at no charge.
- Public transportation to the airport is not available.
- Subsidies for transportation are not offered at this location.
