Transportation Security Officer Job Overview
Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you successfully complete the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.
Local Airport Details
- Airport: Pocatello Regional Airport (PIH), Pocatello, ID
- Flight Schedule: 13.5 hours a day, seven days per week
- Peak Times: Sunday through Saturday, 5 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
- Screening Operations: Inside the terminal, may be temperature controlled.
Work Schedules
TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays. Due to the nature of the job, virtually no flexibility is offered for personal commitments. Specific shifts are assigned after successful training completion and may be adjusted periodically.
Current part-time shifts are available:
- Hours: 16-32 hours per week
- Days: Four (4) to five (5) days, four (4) to eight (8) hours per day
Sign-On Bonus
This location is not offering a sign-on bonus at this time. Recruitment incentive amounts are subject to change and will be determined at the time of the final job offer.

- Onsite parking is available for TSA employees at no charge.
- Public transportation to the airport is available.

Promotional Potential
Under the career ladder system for TSOs, new officers can achieve up to a 67% increase from the starting base salary over 5 years.
Dress Code
TSO uniforms are provided. There are specific restrictions on accessories and grooming while in uniform.
Travel and Training Requirements
If hired, your employment is contingent upon successfully completing required training, which may require up to six (6) weeks of full-time duty status travel.
