Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in joining us! If selected for a Transportation Security Officer (TSO) position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Airport: Santa Barbara Airport, Santa Barbara, CA
• Flight Schedule: 17 hours a day, seven days per week.
• Peak Times:
  • Monday through Sunday: 4:30 a.m. – 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
• Work Environment: Screening operations are located inside the terminal and may or may not be temperature controlled.

Work Schedules

• TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport, which may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Specific shifts are assigned after training completion and are subject to periodic adjustments.

Current Positions Available

• Full-Time: 40 hours per week, five (5) days of eight (8) hours per day.
• Part-Time: 20 hours per week, five (5) days of four (4) hours per day.
• Current part-time hours include morning, afternoon, and evening shifts.

Sign-On Bonus

The TSA is currently offering a sign-on bonus of up to $2,000 for this position, paid in two installments during the first 12 months of service.

Promotional Potential

TSOs can achieve up to a 67% increase in base salary over five years.
