Transportation Security Officer (TSO) Job Overview
Thank you for your interest in employment with TSA. If selected for a TSO position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.
Local Airport Details
- Airport: Albany International Airport (ALB), Albany, NY
- Flight Schedule: 24 hours a day, seven days a week
- Peak Times:
- 4 a.m. – 8 a.m.
- 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
- Screening operations may be inside the terminal and may or may not be temperature controlled.
Work Schedules
- TSOs may have non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Virtually no flexibility is offered for personal commitments.
- Specific shifts are assigned after training and are subject to periodic adjustments.
- TSA employees must report for duty during inclement weather.
Current Openings:
Part-Time Positions: 20 hours per week (5 days of 4 hours during the morning).

- Onsite Parking: $20.00 per year.
- Public Transportation: Not available; no subsidies offered.
Travel and Training Requirements
Employment is contingent upon completing required training, which may require travel for up to six weeks.
Dress Code
Uniforms are provided, and there are restrictions on accessories and grooming while in uniform.
