Transportation Security Officer Job Overview
Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). As a Transportation Security Officer (TSO), you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.
Local Airport Details
- Location: Springfield/Branson Regional Airport, Springfield, MO
- Schedule: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Peak Times: Monday through Sunday, 3:45 a.m. – 8:15 p.m.
- Environment: Screening operations may or may not be temperature controlled.
Work Schedules
TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include:
- Non-traditional shifts
- Weekends and holidays
Shifts are assigned once training is completed and are subject to periodic adjustments.
Current Part-Time Shifts:
- 20 hours per week
- Five (5) days of four (4) hours per day
- Morning, afternoon, and evening shifts available.
Sign-On Bonus
This location is not offering a sign-on bonus at this time.
Commuter Details
- Onsite parking is available for TSA employees free of charge.
- Public transportation to the airport is not available.

Promotional Potential
Under the career ladder system for TSOs, there is a potential increase of up to 67% from the starting base salary over 5 years.
Travel and Training Requirements
If hired, your employment would be contingent upon successfully completing required classroom and on-the-job training. A minimum of three (3) weeks of travel in full-time duty status may be required.
Dress Code
TSO uniforms are provided. There are restrictions on certain accessories and grooming while in uniform.
