Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you successfully complete the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Location: Central Nebraska Regional Airport, Grand Island, NE
• Maintains a 7 days per week flight schedule.
• Hours of operations: 5:00 AM - 6:30 PM daily with two shifts.
• Screening operations are located inside the terminal and are temperature-controlled.

Work Schedules

• TSO work schedules are based on operational needs and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Specific shifts are assigned after training and are subject to periodic adjustments.
• Employees are considered emergency personnel and must report during inclement weather.

Employee Schedule

• Employees can work between 16-32 hours, up to 5 days per week.
• Shifts can range from 2 to 10 hours a day, including irregular hours, nights, holidays, weekend shifts, and split shifts.

Sign-On Bonus

Currently, this location is not offering a sign-on bonus. Recruitment Incentive amount is subject to change and will be determined at the time of final job offer.

Commuter Details

• Onsite parking available for TSA employees free of charge.
• Public transportation to the airport is not available.
• Transportation subsidies are not offered.

Promotional Potential

New officers have a path to reach up to a 67% increase from the starting base salary over 5 years, along with any federal-wide pay increases.

Travel and Training Requirements

If hired by TSA, your employment is contingent upon successfully completing required training. This may require up to six (6) weeks of full-time duty status travel.

Dress Code

TSO uniforms are provided with restrictions on certain accessories and grooming.
