Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in the TSO position. Upon successful completion of the candidate evaluation process, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Location: Ithaca Tompkins International Airport, Ithaca, NY

Work Schedules

• TSO work schedules are based on operational needs and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• No flexibility to accommodate personal commitments due to the nature of the job.
• Specific shifts assigned after training, subject to periodic adjustments.
• Employees are expected to report for duty during inclement weather.

Part-Time Positions

• Assessing candidates for part-time positions (20 hours/week) including five workdays of four-hour shifts.
• Work schedules may include early morning or late night hours.

Promotional Potential

Under the career ladder system for TSOs, there is potential for a base salary increase of up to 67% over five years.

Travel and Training Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing TSA's New Hire training, which may require up to six weeks of full-time duty status travel.

Dress Code

Uniforms are provided. Certain restrictions on accessories and grooming while in uniform apply.
